In her own words:

“The themes of my paintings are built environments or architectural details. During the research phase I photograph these objects to use as a conceptual sketch. On the basis of these photos, I develop compositional drawings, usually applying several levels of abstraction. This is the foundation of my painting process.

Within my work I reduce the urban space to contain only monolithic architecture in front of a wide horizon. The sculptural role of architecture in a landscape allows me to focus on the two central aspects of my paintings: color and light.

Within the strict framework of the composition I grant myself more freedom to experiment with the painting process. Abstract and gestural areas alternate between each other, complement each other and affect the composition of the painting. I experiment with the materiality of oil colors in different states – liquid or pastose. The surfaces vary between solid and dispersing.

Currently I am researching distinct architectural styles in post-war modernism and the so-called „Brutalism“. The overlay of utopian concepts, reality and ruin creates a field of tension for my painting”
